    Health Means Productivity at Work

    health-means-productivity-at-work

A healthy, happy workforce isn’t just great for workplace morale — it’s also essential for productivity. If your employees are constantly overworked or on sick leave, this can seriously eat into profits and also foster resentment at the management.

How can you help? Well, by promoting workplace health, you can give your staff the skills, knowledge and leadership needed to stay safe, healthy and productive.1 Start with these three healthy tips.

    1. Consult employees

Consider conducting a simple survey or feedback session to collect constructive criticism and helpful suggestions from your staff. As the ones on the ground, they’re best-placed to devise meaningful proposals that will tangibly improve their day-to-day quality of health. If you’re worried no one will respond, incentivize participation in the survey with a small lucky-draw prize — choose something that ties in with the health theme, like exercise gear or a monthly gym pass.

    2. Make your health initiative fun

No company can dispense with health and safety rules, and every employee knows that — but no one particularly likes being told what to do. Rather than handing out one information leaflet after another, or corralling your staff into overlong meetings, why not organize an intra-office competition with a health theme? A day of sporting competition at your next team retreat or a charity walkathon can raise awareness about health issues in a fun and convivial setting.

    3. Take the lead

Employees will feel more invested in workplace health promotion if they see their managers taking the lead.2 Set a positive example for your employees. If you’re promoting a take-the-stairs initiative, don’t let your staff catch you at the elevator, join them at the stair landing, and put your best foot forward!

Besides educating your staff about workplace health, you should also consider a comprehensive group employee insurance plan for their — and your — peace of mind.
