Stress is a huge nuisance. It is also the the biggest reason for work-related illnesses.1If you feel you’re suffering from stress, make sure you resolve the issue before it gets worse. Here are some tips to help you beat your stress.

Prioritizing tasks

Instead of just going to your desk and get started, make sure you chalk out all the tasks that you have to complete that day once you enter the office. When you’ve identified the tasks, prioritize them and then start working.

Accept only as much as you can handle

Many employees are afraid to voice their opinions. They accept a lot of work and it all keeps piling up. This builds stress. Make sure to communicate with your manager about your responsibilities and how much you can handle.

Be organized

If your desk is cluttered, it can create confusion. If you are disorganized in your habits, it can affect your work as well. Organize your workspace and you’ll be relieved from stress. If your work patterns are somewhat disoriented, there are high chances that your work will be erratic, thus building up more stress.

Communicate freely

Another way to stay organized is to stay updated with the task related information. For this, you’ll need to talk to your colleagues and set up a meeting to understand what is required and what kind of input they can provide. Maybe they could offer you extra resources or tips. Also, it’s a good idea to talk to your manager or boss to get more input or extra time on the task.

Take a break

Work stress building up? Just get up and go on a small break. Walk to the water cooler and you’ll feel better. Overworking can kill productivity.2 Take small 5-10 minute breaks wherever possible. Taking small breaks might mean a few minutes away from work, but they will increase your productivity which means more work will get done in less time and it will also relieve your stress. So basically, it’s a win-win idea.

Try these stress-busting tips to get respite from work-related worries. It’s always best to try a few things than to continue being stressed and tired all the time.
