Aromatic Summer Essentials

Aromatic Summer Essentials

Essential oils are aromatic liquid extracted from plants. They are widely used in aromatherapy, perfumes, drugs and food flavorings.1

There seem to be endless choices when it comes to picking essential oils for different purposes. For example, tea tree oil for treating pimples, eucalyptus oil for easing congestion, and rose oil for relieving coughs.2

Essential oils for summer

As we are enjoying the great outdoors this summer, let’s take a look at some of the essential oils that are considered the summer must-haves:

1. Peppermint
For all the long road trips, inhaling peppermint oil can help you perk up and stay alert without all the sugar and caffeine.3

2. Cinnamon
For those who are concerned about “canned air” — air, along with germs and bacteria, being recirculated and shared among hundreds of passengers in a flight cabin, putting a drop of cinnamon oil under the nose is clinically-proven to create a “natural airborne filtration system”.3

3. Helichrysum
To treat sunburn, mix helichrysum oil with refrigerated aloe vera gel and apply directly to the skin.3

4. Thyme and clove
Studies have shown that thyme and clove oils are the most effective essential oils in repelling mosquitoes, providing up to 3.5 hours of protection.4

5. Frankincense
To treat bug bites, dilute frankincense oil with a carrier oil and apply to the affected area.5

Our sense of smell is subjective. Have fun experimenting with different essential oils and find out which ones or which combinations work best for you at different times!
