December means parties fun, but it is usually not so fun the next morning. You will hear yourself telling empty promises of never drinking again.

The drink

When it's just inevitable to have some alcohol for your upcoming Christmas gatherings to pump up the fun, we say making the classic Hot Toddy. It is soothing and comforting to drink on a cold night, and will make you the best host right off the bat!

To make a classic Hot Toddy

Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz. bourbon or rye whiskey
  • 1 barspoon honey
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 4 oz. boiling water
  • Garnish: Lemon wedges, cinnamon sticks and star anise (optional, prepare based on number of guests)

Steps

Combine all ingredients in a pre-warmed teacup or mug and stir to combine. Garnish.

Benefits

Here's why the classic Hot Toddy is a winter time favorite other than being delicious.

1. It is made of whiskey.

Considered a medicine back in the 1920s in the US with the ability to relieve cold symptoms.1

2. Honey and lemon have healing properties.

They are filled with Vitamin C,1 best to combat symptoms such as coughs and sneezes.

3. It's steamy.

Nothing feels better than having a glass of aromatic, boozy hot drink to warm your hands and alleviate a stuffy nose.

4. About 85% of the alcohol stays as the rest evaporates during the heating process.

Your guests are still guaranteed to have a lot of fun!

Still, enjoyable it may be, be the attentive host and make sure they do not drink too much of it!
